Hello, Kitty! thesis notebook

I wanted to alter a notebook, but I didn’t have any particular theme in mind. I got this Hello Kitty princess Sizzix die in Texas this summer, but hadn’t used it yet. I started layering the different colors and got really attached to it. I used Icicle Stickles and Glossy Accents on the crown. Jouni drew the laptop for me and I colored it with a silver pen (Creating Memories). I downloaded the Hello Kitty Angel Font from deviantART. The flower brads are probably from Memory Makers. The border is made with the Fiskars Threading Water punch and I lined the inside with white paper to show through the holes. It’s simple, yet complicated. I’m very happy with it overall.

The notebook will be for my thesis notes. I’ll be starting that in October and now I have a cute notebook ready to see me through the process.

What if… I sent out birthday cards on time? I just finished the first five birthday cards that I’ll send out this year! Trust me, it’s amazing. Want to see?

It’s great to have this done. Thanks for looking!

What If…

I was thinking about the things I wish I had done last year. “If I’d only…” or “I should have…” So then I started thinking about this year. What if this year I stick to the Spark Diet? If I’d only stuck to the plan last year, I would be 50 pounds lighter. What if this year I live up to my full potential? Scary, isn’t it? I decided that instead of asking myself “What if I’d done this?” I could just change that around and make it a year of finding out what happens when I do those things. What if I don’t make excuses? What if I walk 30 minutes a day? What if I don’t drink so much Pepsi? What if I actually learn to program in Java? What if I go after that job that I really want? See where I’m going? Rather than hide from the big question, I put it right on my journal. What if…

I’ve been so busy with school and other projects that I haven’t had time to write anything here. I also haven’t gotten to finish my blanket. I hope to do that and a few other things worth posting this week. Don’t give up on me!

Busy week

This was the first full week of school and it was a busy one. My group had to present our project plan to the instructors on Friday and we were a little nervous about it. Overall, it went very well. There were just a few minor changes to be made, but I think they liked what we had done. Well, what Kaveri had done.

Reino had a good week at school, too. On the days that I pick him up late and they are playing outside, I always have to drag him away. His teacher said that he complains a little about the actual school work, but he’s doing it and that’s what matters.

I’m working on some homework and then I plan to do a little scrapping. I’m not sure if I’ll aim for completing some layouts or if I’ll just get some kits ready for the Sinelli crop on the 17th. I printed some sketches from Elsie’s website and I’m anxious to see what I can do with them. My style is not like hers, but i do like some of the sketches. Besides, I’m still trying to find my style so why not try someone else’s on while I’m looking? Maybe I’ll have something to post here later today or tomorrow.

Back to school

Last week was really busy. We had Reino’s birthday on Tuesday and then his party on Saturday. I baked a lot and cleaned a little. Jouni’s parents were here and we went out to eat a couple of times. I cooked a couple of dishes ahead of time and we ate that over the weekend. I was so exhausted from the party that I didn’t want to cook. It was nice to have things prepared in advance. I’ll share pictures from the party as soon as I get them from Jouni.

I went back to school today. I only had one class, which was a nice way to ease back into it. Tomorrow is my horrible, long day. 8:15 to 3:45. I’m glad I only have one of those each week. It was great to see my old friends, though. Wish me a great semester!

Busy day

I only slept 4 hours last night, so I’m just going to ramble and spill it all.

I finally downloaded the pictures I took on Monday. I had this little gem on there. It’s Reino with the Big and Liittle Knuff brothers eating “old fish.” That’s the Knuff name, not what Reino calls them. But it was cute and I had to document it.

This morning I altered another frame. This one was for Raili, Reino’s sitter. She is retiring while we are gone and this was Reino’s last day with her. I had printed multiple copies of a nice picture I took in December and I used that in the frame.

And then I got into Tracy’s challenge. I did this nice little layout with the BG Lily Kate kit. I like it! I showed it to Jouni and he didn’t think it was finished. I told him that I had used a sketch and didn’t feel like trying to put anything else on it.

I need to do a few more layouts for that challenge today. And I still have that Pooh book to alter. So much to do!
